Text Summarizer
The Text Summarizer extracts the main readable content from the current page and generates an AI-powered summary. Useful for quickly understanding articles, comparing research sources, or pulling clean text from ad-heavy pages.
When to Use It
- Quickly understanding an article without reading it in full
- Comparing summaries of multiple sources on the same topic
- Extracting clean article text from pages with heavy navigation, ads, or popups
- Getting a plain-text version of a page for notes or writing research
How to Use It
- 02Navigate to an article, blog post, or content page in Chrome.
- 04Open CrawlPilot → Text Summarizer.
- 06Click Extract & Summarize.
- 08CrawlPilot extracts the main content (from
<article>,<main>, or the page body as a fallback) and sends it to the AI. - 10The summary appears in the panel within a few seconds.
Copy Options
- Copy Text — copies the raw extracted text (no AI summary)
- Copy Summary — copies only the AI-generated summary
AI Processing
The Text Summarizer uses Anthropic's Claude API. A trial usage quota is built into the extension. For heavy usage, you can add your own API key in Settings → Integrations → Anthropic API Key.

- Blog posts
- Research and academic pages
- Wikipedia articles
- Documentation pages
Does Not Work On
- Login-gated pages (content not accessible without authentication)
- Primarily visual pages (image galleries, video pages with no transcript)

Troubleshooting
"No content found": The page may use JavaScript to load its content after the initial page load. Wait for the page to fully render, then try again.
Summary seems incomplete: Very long articles may be truncated. Use Copy Text to get the full content and summarize it in your preferred AI tool.
Slow response: The AI API can take 3–10 seconds depending on article length. This is normal.
